Bush Veto Saves Toddlers From Child-Murdering Scientists »
Posted by: Spadecaller 1 year, 7 months agoPresident George W. Bush has cast his first-ever veto, saying that the stem cell research bill passed by the U.S. Senate "crosses a moral boundary." He was particularly concerned about how the plan called for scientists to club small children to death like baby seals.

Nobody wants to kill children, they want to stop clusters of cells from being thrown away, so they can instead be used to cure people of terrible diseases.
Once again, in case you are so ignorant that you cannot tell the difference...
WITHOUT stem cell reasearch, the "embryos" are DISCARDED, THROWN AWAY.
WITH stem cell research, they take on life as cures to diseases or new body parts for ACTUAL PEOPLE.
who is pro life now? If you are against stem cell research, you are PRO EMBRYO DUMPSTER DISPOSAL.
If you are PRO stem cell research, you are FOR sick children ans well as adults getting help for horrible illnesses.
The Republicans concoted this strawman for one reason. Stem cell research will eventually cure diabetes. The diabetic industry in this country is worth 50 billion dollars a year for Bushie's friends, Big Pharma. That is why diseases don't get cured, they just come up with stuff to allow you to "live" with them.

More of your Republican friends standing on a huge pile of corpses to ensure their rich friends can keep ripping off all us good americans. A person needs to be both ignorant and gullible, as well as prone toward worship of authority,
to believe this, the most transparent and destructive crap the bushies have pedalled yet! Wingnuts beware! You, too, may become diabetic. it is not fun. Support the only research currently ongoing that promises a cure for this scourge on america and the world. It is an epidemic!

And where do these "Embryo's" come from? From KILLED Children you have to kill em before you DISCARD them.
Besides a couple of Doctors have developed a way to do stem
cell research without Embryos. The true reason Republicans
are against this is They DON'T condone Abortion which we all
KNOW is killing the unborn, a few of us don't want to admit
it though. You don't kill a child to save somone elses child
or to save another adult. Oh there are some that are rich that
would use the lives of others to save their own. I am GLAD
BUSH Vetoed it.

What about the 3000 children that die everyday in America in abortions? What about those children? Why are you not crying out for them?!

I agree. It is illogical.
If, as scientists claim, hESC research borrows pluripotent cells from an unimplanted blastocyst that can't be classified yet as a human life, then de-regulate hESC research already and let's use federal funding to help find cures to save millions of lives.
If, as Evangelicals claim, an unimplanted blastocyst is human life and hESC research is tantamount to "murdering a child," then why not have the courage to make all hESC research illegal? Why stop with saying murder is okay as long as federal funding isn't used to do it? The logic behind this position makes no sense to me. Are they saying it's okay for evil private researchers to "murder children," as long as it doesn't sully the immaculate government? As if the government was immaculate and needed protection?

The amount of ignorance and anti-science that exists holds our nation back from discovering cures to serious illnesses and conditions for which so many people could benefit.
How sad.

Are you REALLY this uneducated? Why not actually read what ESCR is before making a claim that makes you look like a nitwit.

Bush veto something. Hummmmmmmm... Stem cell research is coming soon to a lab close to you. If not in the good ol' USofA then it will show up in another country. The question is will it be 'legal' here or there. The morality of the issue will always be a sticking point ("..harvesting stem cells from aborted feotuses...."). Shades of 'Blade Runner'.

Spadecaller - you have finally drawn out some of the terminally stupid Lefties and tricked some Conservatives with a mean-spirited attempt at humor.
The truth is that embryonic stem cells have never led toward any cure for anything. Stem cells from umblilical cords, adult stem cells and amniotic stem cells have shown progress toward possible cures. The cell clumps left over from in vitro fertilization should be "adopted" by women who cannot have children any other way. Abortion mills should be prohibited from providing any kind of stem cells or foetal material. They do kill unborn babies,
The stem cell hype is strong and wrong. Only the hydrogen power hype is stronger and just as incorrect.

TAGANAN WROTE:
"The truth is that embryonic stem cells have never led toward any cure for anything."
Cell therapies (bone marrow transplant) already exist using hESC. Other therapies (cancer, Parkinson's, spinal cord) seem within only a decade away. The reason why therapies using hESC are coming slowly is because there is no federal funding for researching therapies using hESC.
TAGANAN WROTE:
"Stem cells from umblilical cords, adult stem cells and amniotic stem cells have shown progress toward possible cures."
Wrong. Progenitor cells are multipotent. Only hESC are pluripotent. There is NOTHING that umbilical, adult stem cell, and amniotic stem cells can do that hESC can't do. Conversely, hESC can differentiate into some cell types and can be kept in an undifferentiated state for longer than umbilical, adult stem cell, and amniotic stem cells. Name ONE thing that umbilical, adult stem cell, and amniotic stem cells can do and hESC can't.

Why? As you stated, they are only "cell clumps"; they are not children that need to be adopted. In fact, they haven't even been implanted in a uterus yet. IVF procedures usually call for 15 eggs to be retrieved from the female. Of which, only 3 will be implanted in the mother's uterus. The other 12 eggs have a short shelf-life. It's unlikely they will be adopted by a surrogate female who can only be impregnated via IVF before the 12 eggs die. That's assuming, of course, that there are enough people looking to adopt these fertilized eggs. If not, the eggs will be simply disposed of.

Stem cell research is most likely just an excuse to keep abortion alive. It's only a few days before a child..no wait excuse me..a glob of cells has a beating heart and a nervous system (The extremities form later). Just because it cannot speak for itself and has not been born yet doesn't give some kid who's scared mommy and daddy is going to find out she's pregnant, to kill her own child. It's sick and wrong. So let's see here, if logic serves everyone right, a woman kills her 3 month old child it's murder and everyone is like OMG! She's one sick woman! Then some girl or woman who made a "mistake" goes and gets her unborn child aborted it isn't murder? Hmmm, how illogical and idiotic, don't forget sick. The moment the sperm and egg cell come together and the cell divides..there you have a unique set of DNA that never existed before will never exist again.

What the hell is wrong with you people. I was laughing at the first comment I read to think this was a serious article.
Seriously if you cant tell this is a joke you need to stop writing comments on the internet so everyone who cares to look can see that your brain doesnt function properly.
People are really arguing the good and bad points of clubbing children, and what about the shildren we bombed in Iraq. I am drunk? Am I reading these wrong?

This submission is satire and humor. If you choose this thread to argue your cause it is either because you are too incompetent to argue your views effectively on the appropriate threads, or that you are totally bereft of a sense of humor. WOW!! Another inane post from a person totally clueless as to how ESC's are harvested. Never bothered to actually READ for yourself just how it's done, eh?
"Human embryonic stem cells are derived from fertilized embryos less than a week old. Using 14 blastocysts obtained from donated, surplus embryos produced by in vitro fertilization"

Care to tell the class how long ago the first human embryonic stem cells had been successfully isolated and cultured?
While you're at it, also explain how long it took to develop the cures that we enjoy today.

I find it hard to believe that even the dems will allow the clubbing to death of children but it wouldn't surprise me. As lenient as they are against child molesters doesn't help the matter. I'm sure that eventually they will find a moral and legal way around this. I am for stem cell research. Just give it more time.

The real issue here is abortion. The Dems could care less about medicine. They are only interested in supporting two of their most loyal special interest groups: the radical Fems and the abortion industry.
If you have any doubts about the existence of an abortion industry, look at the numbers:
1. Every minute 2 abortions are performed in the US.
2. Every day there are 3000 abortions performed in the US.
3. Every year there are 1,000,000 abortions performed.
4. Since 1973 there have been 40-50 million abortions performed.
You are talking about billions of dollars and the "doctors" and clinics who perform abortions send the DNC millions of dollars each year.
Don't be fooled by talk of cures. If you want to find out the truth in America follow the dollars. And the dollars flow from the abortion industry straight into Democrat bank accounts.

WARNING, ATTENTION ALL HANDS: This is a reminder; the article you are commenting on is classified as "humor." Human babies are not being clubbed over the heads like baby seals --nor is the article about abortion.
Should you require serious discussion contact your therapist, government representative, or try blogging on sites that are classified as "politics", "religion", "News" or "DO IT YOURSELF".
(By the way, what do they man about "DO IT YOURSELF"? What is "IT"?) LOL
